The K2 - How it compares

Probably our closest rival is our own former product the marine ply Kontender; a customer of ours recently sold his Kontender and bought a K2 and has sailed it this summer alongside his brother’s Kontender. His comments were that the two boats were highly comparable in performance.

In terms of folding boats we believe the K2 is unrivalled as a sailing dinghy as it possesses most of the properties and features of a rigid sailing dinghy such as the Mirror. Other folding boats such as the Portabote and Tinker (inflatable) do not in our estimation offer the same level of proper sailing performance.

In terms of price we believe the most viable price comparison is the fibreglass basic Mirror Weekender - which is around 14% less than the K2.

The K2, for this small increase in price, offers the folding properties which eliminate the need for a trailer (a car roof rack is all that is needed) and with an inbuilt skeg wheel the K2 does not require a launch trolley – and folded up takes up no more room than a 10ft ladder in your garage or shed.
